How to do a boxplot with Pandas using Python

1 min

Boxplots are good to show and compare variable distributions.

Here is a super simple example of a boxplot, using the Pandas library.

import pandas as pd

# We read a sample dataset from the web.
df = pd.read_csv('https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mwaskom/'\
                 'seaborn-data/master/iris.csv')

df.boxplot()

As we can see we are using the DataFrame.boxplot() method.

In this example, we are plotting the sepal_length, sepal_width, petal_length, and the petal_width of an iris observation dataset.

Here is the result.
