How to get the latest cryptocurrency prices in Python

If you deal with APIs, you might end up reading JSON data since its the industry standard.

In order to retrieve data from the API you will need to perform an HTTP call.

Let's try with coingecko free api.

Coingecko.com provides us with free cryptocurrency data via an their API.

Here is an example that gets the latest Bitcoin price in USD

import requests # The library we use to perform the HTTP call.

url = "https://api.coingecko.com/api/v3/simple/price"

params = {"ids": "bitcoin",
		  "vs_currencies": "usd"}

response = requests.get(url, params=params)

print(response.json())

Here params are the required arguments that api expect in order to give you the corresponding data. (Here Bitcoin price in USD).
